Lesley is a survivor of breast cancer who is currently undergoing radiation treatment. She is a bright light in our community, and on Friday, June 20, Lesley received her first henna crown application. An event of this sort usually costs upwards of $500; however, thanks to the generous donations of our artist, Angelique Bulosan, the The Magnolia Hotel and Spa in downtown Victoria, Lens and Shutter Victoria , and aspiring makeup artist Jenna Kelly, I was able to organize a day full of celebration free of charge for Lesley. Thank you also to Henna Heals for their guidance, and for allowing me to use their images for the project - they were instrumental in helping me share my idea with my participants and the media!
Take a look at the CTV news feature from the day! They start talking about Lesley's crown at 1:30.
We also made front page news! Enjoy the Times Colonist article.
Please also enjoy the guest blog I wrote for Namaste Inspired Athletics, and the photo feature on Life as a Human.
